I'm Back

WOW! Sorry I was gone for so long 2nd semester kinda got out of hand. Well I just started third semester and it seems like it will be better than second. Since my last post we acquired a puppy and named her Olive. She is super cute she is about 4 1/2 months.

So I am finally done with finals and have passed my first semester of Vet School. I made Dean's list this semester we'll see if I can keep it up for 6 more semesters. We are getting clobbered at this very moment by TS Irene. I have not seen winds like this since that tornado touched down a block from our house. Everyone in the building is gone for break so ot is just Chris Lola and I hangging out (see picture). Not much to do on a day like this but blog and sleep I think I shall do the latter.

The semester is 2/3's over

Well I don't have any fun pictures to share or exciting adventures to tell you about. I finished the 3rd of 4 tests (2nd round for the semester) today. I am really glad it is Friday but all the studying starts back up tomorrow for my Nutrition test next Wednesday. I got my Physiology test back yesterday I got a 97.5% = one question wrong. It is eating me up as to which one I answered wrong. OH well not much to say ...

Crazy Critters

So last night Chris woke up to a mongoose standing on the window sill looking in the window. They are strange little critters. I added a photo so you can see what they look like. They are the reason there are no snakes on the island. To add to the weird night the mouse was back in our air conditioner last night chewing away and making a racket.
Today I had the day off of school so we went to town to get some stuff done. Most businesses are only open to like 3PM so I can't get anything done during the week. First we went to the Rams (grocery store)  and stopped off at the bank. Then we went and had Chris added to the car insurance and I went to the Dr to get my 2nd Hep A shot. Even though it took all morning it was nice to get some stuff done. As an interesting aside the Drs down here do piercings...maybe I should get a new one...HAHAHA JK!

Reggae Beach

Posted by PicasaOK so I didn't take the camera to the beach yesterday, but I found a picture online of the beach we went to so I could give everyone an idea of what it looked like. The area is called Cockleshell Bay. We had a great time and didn't get too burnt. The road to get out there was well interesting. Pothole riddled roads winding up and down the mountains. It is only like 7 miles but it takes 30 minutes to drive it.

Pizza Boy

So today we went to Pizza Boy to get pizza. While I was waiting for the pie I started talking to some tourists. The guy in the group was from Wooster Ohio. So Crazy what a small world.
Last night we went to port to the Indian food buffet. The food was really good and it was nice to get out and socialize outside of school. Tomorrow we are going to the beach (Reggae Beach). I can't wait we are finally going to the beach.

Crazy Week

This week was crazy. I had 2 exams ( Physiology I and Gross Anatomy) and next week I have Nutrition. Yesterday when I got home from school the lot next door was "plowed". Chris said a guy with a backhoe came and bulldozed it. This is all well and good except that it unearthed a whole mess of creepy crawlies  (especially centipedes) YUCK! The birds were having a field day with all the exposed bugs the cattle egret pictured was one of the birds enjoying the bug buffet.
Today we went to the open air market downtown for some fresh food. I found a plethora of fun things. I picked up bananas, sweet potatoes, green peppers, ginger, avocados, star fruit, wax apples (which taste like green grapes), eggs, thyme, and limes (all for $42 EC ~ $15 US). The wax apples are pictures they are the pink pear shaped fruit.
Today is Chris' birthday! I am making arroz con pollo for dinner and I made him homemade brownies.
